Dark and Gloomy Variant

As it was actually cold the other day, I decided to make a Dark and Gloomy hot chocolate variant. I used half the alcohol, and it came out better than a regular one because the kick was not as strong.

The Recipe

1/2 oz. Spiced rum (I used Three Howls)
1/2 oz. Creme de coca
1/2 oz. Cognac
1/2 oz. Kahlua
1/2 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
2 Heaping spoons of hot chocolate mix (I used Skinny Cow Chocolate Truffle)
2 Cups of milk (I used Fairlife 2%)

Serves two

Add the alcohol, which should be room temp, and chocolate into a mug that is large enough for 10 oz. Heat the milk just before it boils. Mix all ingredients in a heating container and then split into two mugs (one of them being the previously used one).

I get a kickback for purchases made with the Amazon links.

  1. OMG, I love the mug! I used to have a bunch of Disney mugs, and I have no idea what happened to them. 🙁

The recipe looks yummy, too. I may have to try that sometime. I can’t have dairy, but I bet I can find a substitute that would work. Maybe macadamia nut milk…
