Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) Official Opening Night

For more years than I can count, come mid-September, Universal Studios Orlando (Universal) holds an after hours, additional ticketed event, called Halloween Horror Nights (HHN). They set up houses in old studios or warehouses and do their Universal magic on them to make these houses into horror hell for the unsuspecting. They also have scare zones scattered throughout the park, so the frights are not limited to the houses. Continue reading “Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) Official Opening Night”

Magical Dining Explained

Magical Dining Explained
Ooie Gooie from Big Fin Seafood Kitchen, 2016

Over the last many years, I have participated in the Magical Dining experience, now an Orlando dining staple. I think when I started going it was a $30 Prix fixed menu at several locations across town. Currently, it is at $35, and the price, when it has increased was about $1 per meal. It served two purposes. First as a means to introduce people to venues in the Orlando area that they might not usually go that are on the fine dining, or at least more expensive, end of the spectrum. The second purpose is to contribute to a charity that seems to change yearly. When I started, I was not aware of the charity change. Continue reading “Magical Dining Explained”

Rainbow Springs/Falls

Rainbow Springs/Falls
Lily, on the road

Gathering my gear for both Lily and myself, I packed for the trip to see some ghosts. Rainbow Springs is an old is a former phosphate mine and later a tourist attraction that eventually went under as Disney took away the attraction and people no longer came to that area. Eventually, the state purchased the property and made it into a state park. The springs and falls still operate as they did back in the day. Continue reading “Rainbow Springs/Falls”

What the Deal was with Delayed Writing and “Medical Issues” (Part VI)

June 4th, 2018

Continuing the story of what halted my travel to Alaska with the following disclaimer-lite. Be aware that the current theme I am using places the whole post and not just a summary. They are in reverse order if you want to read previous ones on the home page. I plan on going into some detail that is a bit personal dealing with bills. I am done with the graphic nature of what happened to me. I do get preachy, though. If you feel you do not want to read this for it may offend you or may reveal too much about me, please move on. I intend to write about more travel exploits soon to catch up from the previous as well as new ones. Thanks for understanding. Continuing the story of what halted my travel to Alaska with the following disclaimer-lite. Be aware that the current theme I am using places the whole post and not just a summary. I plan on going into some detail that is personal. Most of the graphic nature is done, but there is a little bit left. What the Deal was with Delayed Writing and “Medical Issues” (Part I)

May 28th, 2018
I wouldn’t put the date on a general post like this, normally, but my next comment will make sense if there is a date stamp on it. I planned on putting a disclaimer, which I will, that took up enough space to avoid someone reading something they did not care to read, but the current theme I am using places the whole post and not just a summary. That being said, I plan on going into some detail that not only is very personal but also possibly graphic in nature. If you feel you do not want to read this for it may offend you or may reveal too much about me, please move on. I intend to write about more travel exploits soon to catch up from the previous as well as new ones. Thanks for understanding. North to Alaska, Day 3 (NO LA, Day II, Part II)

Thursday, March 22, 2018 (Still):

After the cemetery tour, I checked the time and saw I had another three plus hours left on my parking meter and decided to make the best of it. Across the street from where I was, as the place I actually parked, was the Basin St. Station and bus tour stop/visitor center. I figured I did the main thing I was in New Orleans for, I should be able to do anything else at this point. Continue reading “North to Alaska, Day 3 (NO LA, Day II, Part II)”
